Rogier Houwen (b. 1992, Laren, NL) is a photographic artist based in Amsterdam. His practice approaches landscape as more than a visual subject, considering its physical, conceptual and spiritual dimensions.
Working intuitively within the landscape, Houwen uses the camera as an extension of the body, exploring relationships between nature, perception and the environments we inhabit. His photographs are further developed through analogue and digital printing techniques with handmade papers, giving the works a tactile quality that moves photography towards drawing and material object.
