The design of this Earth Painting is inspired by the often long and narrow valleys that make up the country. Traversing Bhutan from West to East and vice versa, one climbs and descends high altitude passes to find a different life and universe awaiting in each of the valleys, which generally run in a North to South direction. The country is naturally formed in plateaus, giving life to unique ecosystems in each of the valleys. The woodwork, functioning as a plateau and offering the canvas its opportunity to welcome the eye in this similar way; as if arriving in each valley - fulfilling the same supporting role as Bhutan’s geography and inherent landscapes.

_

Materials: recycled denim canvas on reclaimed wood, lift frame in reclaimed frake noir wood, variety of ochres and local rocks & mineral

Dimensions: H 21 x W 52 x D 6 cm

When deciding where to display your Earth Painting: seek the light. The natural pigments respond beautifully to shifting light conditions. Morning light offers a crisp, soft glow; evening light brings out the warmth and depth of the pigments. You may therefore notice that the Earth Painting appears in a different 'colour'. Take your time to find a place where you can observe the interplay of light and shadow on the Earth Painting - a place where its textures and colours don’t fall flat.
