In the heart of Amsterdam’s historical city center lies this 100+ year old apartment. Fully renovated by Hum and taking into consideration both the desire to have a place to escape day-to-day life & the challenging square meter limitation so typical of The Netherlands capital.

The most outstanding quality of this apartment is its natural light that gives a spacious sense of connection with the exterior. Through multiple decisions for efficient use of space and materials, personal moments emerge to create calm and reset.

A custom made travertine top and handpicked objects from around the world in the kitchen seamlessly merge with the vintage sourced sofa in the living area.

The challenging size of this house raised the opportunity to reshuffle the available layout. The result is another characteristic of this project - its hotel like setting. By opening up the shower towards the bedroom area together with the bathtub and the vanity, a feeling of ease and relaxation was achieved.

The speckled Japanese handmade shower tiles are a personal favourite.

Off-white walls and dark wooden flooring bring the contrast necessary to the house’s character while keeping the beloved light free to reflect and cast shadows around the ambience.
